Google says possible to see global rival to emerge in Russia

VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 6 (PRIME) -- Google does not rule out the emergence of a global competitor in Russia, Marina Zhunich, director of government relations at Google Russia, said at a panel discussion of the Eastern Economic Forum late on Tuesday.

“We’re very attentive to the Russian market as well as to other markets, and we absolutely don’t rule out an option of appearance of such a global competitor (for Google and Russian Internet giant Yandex). Why not? We (in Russia) have one of the most talented markets of development; it’s a matter of a niche, a matter of situation, a matter of positioning,” Zhunich said.

She said separately that Google sets itself a task to make it possible to register a business via a smartphone during five minutes.

“In 2003–2016, the volume of time spent on the creation and registration of an organization halved. We in Google set the task to adjust applications and this industry to register a company via a smartphone in five minutes,” Zhunich said.

According to researches, the global market of mobile applications will exceed U.S. $6 trillion by 2021, which makes the mobile industry extremely promising for investments.

“It’s interesting that by data of a rating of the best mobile applications in the world in 2017, there are three companies from Russia out of 15 top companies-developers of applications (for phones), and I see that the figure will rise,” she said.

Google Russia conducted a study and found out that the mobile economy will create some 500,000 jobs during the coming five years. The mobile economy has already given 1.3 million jobs, Zhunich said.
